PIA Suspends All Passenger Discounts Amid Rising Jet Fuel Prices

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the suspension of all discounts previously extended to various passenger groups, including students, senior citizens, journalists, retired military personnel, and Airport Security Force (ASF) employees. The airline’s management has directed all airport staff to implement this new policy without delay.

In a significant development, a PIA spokesperson clarified that this suspension is a temporary response to the escalating jet fuel prices, which have sharply increased the airline’s operational costs. The spokesperson emphasized that the measure will remain effective until fuel prices stabilize.

“All discount schemes have been withdrawn until the cost of jet fuel returns to manageable levels,” the spokesperson stated. This step aims to help the airline sustain its operations amid the financial challenges posed by soaring aviation fuel expenses.

Industry experts highlight that the surge in global fuel prices is exerting pressure on airlines worldwide, and Pakistan’s national carrier is no exception. PIA officials reassured that the suspension is not permanent and expressed hope to reinstate the discounts for all eligible categories once economic conditions improve.
