In a significant development for Gilgit-Baltistan, the remote Soq Valley has witnessed a major enhancement in its telecommunications infrastructure with the rollout of 4G services. This upgrade marks a substantial improvement over the previous 2G network, promising faster and more dependable internet access for the local population. The initiative is part of the Special Communications Organization’s (SCO) ongoing efforts to modernize connectivity in underserved regions.

The transition to 4G in Soq Valley was completed under the Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS) Phase-IV project, which focuses on expanding advanced mobile networks to remote and less accessible areas. This project aims to bridge the digital divide by providing residents with the tools necessary for better communication, education, and economic opportunities.

Local inhabitants have expressed strong approval of the new 4G services, highlighting how the improved connectivity has simplified daily tasks and enhanced access to educational resources. Moreover, the upgrade is expected to stimulate regional development by opening new avenues for business and tourism. Visitors to the picturesque valley will also benefit from more reliable internet services, making travel and exploration more convenient.

Residents have commended the SCO for delivering high-quality and efficient 4G connectivity, viewing it as a crucial step toward the digital transformation of the area. This advancement not only supports the community’s immediate needs but also lays the foundation for sustained growth and integration into the broader digital economy.
