    Samsung Galaxy S26 Update Enables AirDrop Compatibility with iPhones

    Samsung has rolled out an update for its Galaxy S26 smartphones that introduces AirDrop compatibility, allowing the device’s Quick Share feature to seamlessly transfer files to iPhones. This enhancement began its phased release on Monday, initially available in South Korea before expanding to North America, Latin America, Europe, Hong Kong, Japan, Southeast Asia, and Taiwan.

    In a significant development, Samsung has announced plans to extend AirDrop support beyond the S26 series to other devices, although the specific models eligible for this upgrade have yet to be disclosed. Quick Share, Samsung’s proprietary file-sharing service, was first launched with the Galaxy S20 in 2020, notably seven years after Apple introduced AirDrop for iOS users.

    Further integration occurred in 2024 when Quick Share merged with Google’s Nearby Share, broadening its compatibility to non-Samsung Android devices, ChromeOS, and Windows PCs. By 2025, Quick Share had also become compatible with AirDrop on Google Pixel 10 smartphones. The latest update now enhances this cross-platform functionality by enabling file sharing with iPhones, simplifying the process for users regardless of their operating system.

    To utilize this new feature, Galaxy S26 owners must activate the “Share with Apple devices” option, which can be found within the phone’s settings under “Connected devices” and then “Quick Share.” This step is necessary to enable file transfers to iOS devices via Quick Share.
