Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed satisfaction on Wednesday over Pakistan’s effective management of the supply and demand of essential commodities amid the ongoing Middle East crisis. He made these remarks while chairing a review meeting focused on developing a strategy to shield the country from the financial and economic repercussions stemming from the tense regional situation.

Notably, the premier observed that numerous countries worldwide were struggling to maintain a balance between supply and demand for critical goods due to the current geopolitical turmoil. He urged the relevant authorities to devise a comprehensive plan aimed at mitigating the economic impact on the public without disrupting production or the equilibrium across various economic sectors.

Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of thoroughly assessing both external and internal macroeconomic factors during the strategy’s formulation. He acknowledged the prompt and effective steps taken by all concerned institutions to avert any emergency in the availability of essential goods.

In a significant development, the prime minister highlighted that after meeting domestic demands for food and other necessities, efforts were underway to successfully implement a strategy for exporting surplus production. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring economic stability, fostering growth, and promoting public welfare.

Amid rising global market prices, the prime minister directed the development of a medium- and long-term strategy to address the financial and economic challenges facing Pakistan. He specifically called for close coordination among relevant ministries and institutions to safeguard the stability and growth of all economic sectors.

Furthermore, Shehbaz Sharif instructed the formulation of measures to minimize the impact of increasing production costs on exports and overall economic output due to global conditions. He stressed the need to fully harness available resources and opportunities to protect agricultural and industrial production from adverse effects during this challenging period.

During the briefing, it was reported that all relevant ministries and institutions were monitoring the economic implications of the regional crisis daily, in line with the prime minister’s directives. The meeting also reviewed medium- and long-term plans to confront the financial and economic difficulties arising from ongoing regional tensions.

The prime minister praised the coordinated efforts of all ministries and institutions and called for further enhancement of collaboration. He also expressed gratitude for maintaining the balance between supply and demand of essential goods within Pakistan despite the difficult circumstances.
