Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has dismissed a widely circulated notification claiming the imposition of a nationwide smart lockdown as completely false. The misleading message had caused widespread panic across the country on social media platforms.
Tarar emphasized that no government orders for any lockdown have been issued and urged the public to obtain updates solely from official government channels. He warned that spreading misinformation during uncertain times only fuels unnecessary fear and disorder.
In a significant development, this clarification was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The session focused on the government’s response to ongoing regional and domestic challenges, including efforts to provide public relief and stabilize the national economy.
The Prime Minister, joined by key ministers and senior officials, discussed critical issues such as ensuring the steady supply of petroleum products and formulating strategies to shield Pakistan from the escalating tensions between the US and Iran. Sharif reaffirmed the government’s dedication to safeguarding citizens’ interests and alleviating financial burdens, especially amid rising fuel prices and broader economic instability.
