Kuwait Denies Resumption of Flights at International Airport Amid Rumors

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in Kuwait has dismissed recent social media reports suggesting that flight operations have restarted at Kuwait International Airport, labeling these claims as false and unauthorized. In an official statement released on Thursday, the DGCA confirmed that no permission has been granted to resume flights, and the airport continues to be closed.

Notably, the DGCA pointed out that a misleading announcement, allegedly from an airline, had circulated online, causing confusion among the public. The authority urged citizens and travelers to depend solely on verified official communications and refrain from sharing unconfirmed information.

Abdullah Al-Rajhi, spokesperson for the DGCA, reiterated that the rumors about the airport reopening are incorrect and emphasized that no decision has been made regarding the resumption of air traffic. He called on the public to trust only official sources for updates and avoid spreading unverified news circulating on social platforms.

In a significant development, the DGCA reaffirmed its dedication to transparency and ongoing communication through formal channels. It assured that any future announcements concerning flight operations will be made officially and promptly.

Kuwait initially suspended its airspace and airport activities on February 28, 2026, due to escalating regional political and security concerns. Authorities have maintained that the closure remains necessary as a precautionary measure to safeguard passengers and ensure the security of aviation operations.
