Newly appointed Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Barrister Iftikhar Gillani has declared that reinstating normalcy in the region is a primary focus of his administration. He outlined plans to restore internet connectivity, reopen key routes, and resume the movement of freight vehicles to alleviate difficulties faced by residents and businesses.

During a visit to the Central Press Club in Muzaffarabad, Gillani stated that internet services at educational institutions would be reinstated shortly. Efforts are also underway to restore general internet access throughout Azad Kashmir, aiming to reconnect the region comprehensively.

He emphasized that the government is actively working to clear road blockages and other barriers that have disrupted daily life. Notably, the prime minister announced that freight vehicle movement would recommence from Sunday, a move expected to significantly ease logistical challenges and support the local economy.

In a significant development, Gillani revealed plans for a broad development program targeting Azad Kashmir, with a commitment to addressing public grievances effectively. He reaffirmed that development and public welfare remain central to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s agenda, promising that his government would uphold this vision throughout its tenure.

The prime minister also underscored the important role of the media in enhancing government performance. He expressed appreciation for the media’s constructive contributions and encouraged journalists to highlight shortcomings and public concerns, enabling the administration to respond appropriately.

“Journalists should assist in guiding and improving the government,” Gillani remarked, stressing the administration’s dedication to delivering strong results by the end of its term. He pledged to prioritize resolving public issues, improving access to essential services, and promoting development across the region.

Gillani concluded by affirming his government’s determination to meet public expectations and initiate a new era of growth and prosperity in Azad Kashmir.
