The father of Mir Raza Ali, the deceased businessman, has announced his intention to request a fresh post-mortem examination, expressing dissatisfaction with the current investigation’s findings. On the night of July 28, Ali, an IBA graduate, returned home briefly from his shop before leaving again, telling his family he would be back within 10 minutes. His body was later found in bushes in Block 1 of Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
Mir Hussain, Ali’s father, criticized the police investigation and initial medical report, demanding a more comprehensive inquiry into the circumstances surrounding his son’s death. He asserted that Ali was murdered and accused authorities of attempting to label the case as a suicide. Hussain claimed that Ali’s face, body, and fingerprints had been burned, and alleged he was shot from behind. He also questioned why the initial medical report only mentioned a gunshot wound without referring to alleged signs of torture.
Hussain, Ali went missing on July 28 and his body was discovered a day later, raising questions about where he had been during the intervening 24 hours. He noted that Ali had spoken to his sister before leaving home that night and mentioned that a taxi driver told the family Ali appeared happy and was singing during the ride.
Appealing to higher authorities, the father urged for a transparent investigation to uncover the truth. Earlier medical assessments indicated Ali sustained a gunshot wound to the chest, with preliminary findings suggesting he had taken a security guard’s weapon prior to the incident. The post-mortem report estimated the body to be 24 to 36 hours old at the time of examination.
Medico-legal experts observed that the bullet’s entry wound was larger than the exit wound, indicating the shot was fired from behind and exited through the front. They also noted suspicious marks on Ali’s right hand and visible injuries on his face. Photographs from the examination revealed swelling and severe facial damage.
Meanwhile, Karachi Additional Inspector General of Police Azad Khan has formed a three-member special investigation team led by Special Investigation Unit SSP Samiullah Soomro, with District East SSP Zubair Nazir Sheikh and SP Muhammad Usman Saduzai as members. The team has been instructed to probe all aspects of the case and identify those responsible, submitting daily progress reports.
Investigators have obtained Ali’s mobile phone data and forensic reports, revealing he owed money to several individuals. Officials disclosed that Ali sent a message on the night of July 28 to a friend requesting a loan of Rs30 million, citing severe financial difficulties. Statements from 15 people, including the taxi driver and the person who first reported the body online, have been recorded.
Investigation officials confirmed the family’s reservations about the initial medical report and stated that another medical examination could be arranged if formally requested. A detailed inquiry continues to determine whether Ali’s death was a suicide or homicide.
