In Balochistan, five additional terrorists were killed during recent operations, bringing the total number of militants eliminated in Operation Shaban to 76. Since July 5, a combined total of 114 militants have been neutralized through Operation Shaban and other intelligence-based operations conducted across the province.
Security officials emphasized that the campaign will persist until every militant threat is eradicated. Previously, four more India-backed terrorists were killed in the Saran Tangai area of Balochistan, raising the death toll at that time to 71. A significant cache of weapons and ammunition was seized from the deceased militants, including M4 rifles, submachine guns, rocket launchers, mobile phones, and other equipment.
Operation Shaban was initiated following a deadly assault on the Mangi Dam police station in Ziarat. The operation is a coordinated effort involving the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps, and Balochistan Police. Despite inflicting substantial losses on militants, recent terrorist attacks in Balochistan have resulted in the deaths of 42 individuals, including security personnel and civilians.
In a notable development, ISPR Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry reported that India-backed terrorists attacked a checkpoint, where police personnel engaged fiercely, killing 15 militants during the initial confrontation. Nine police officers were martyred in the fighting, and militants took some police personnel hostage before security forces arrived to secure the area.
Pakistan has experienced a rise in terrorist activities, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the Afghan Taliban assumed power in 2021. In response, Pakistan launched Operation Ghazab lil-Haq targeting terrorist hideouts across the border, resulting in the deaths of numerous Afghan Taliban operatives and injuries to many others.
In October 2025, border clashes intensified after the Afghan Taliban and allied militants launched unprovoked attacks on Pakistani border posts. These confrontations led to the deaths of over 200 Taliban fighters and allied militants, while 23 Pakistani soldiers were martyred defending the country. Despite multiple rounds of dialogue, no agreement has been reached, primarily due to the Afghan Taliban regime’s unwillingness to act against terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory.
