Security forces in Pakistan eliminated 29 militants during an intelligence-driven operation followed by precise strikes on terrorist hideouts along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar announced. These actions were launched in response to a series of recent terrorist attacks targeting civilians in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and personnel at the Pakistan Rangers camp in Karachi.
On June 28, a meticulously planned ground operation was conducted in Bajaur district, focusing on militants affiliated with the Indian-backed Jamaat ul Ahrar and Fitna al-Khawarij groups. The operation resulted in the death of a high-profile militant commander, Khan Farosh alias Zabal, along with three other Jamaat ul Ahrar members, while several militants were injured.
Continuing the efforts under Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, security forces executed targeted strikes overnight between June 28 and 29 against terrorist camps in the border areas of Paktia, Paktika, and Kunar. These strikes destroyed three militant bases and killed 25 militants. Additionally, large caches of weapons and ammunition stored at these locations were obliterated.
Minister Tarar emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and stability but stressed that the safety of its citizens would not be compromised. He reaffirmed that the counterterrorism campaign, conducted under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” strategy, would persist vigorously to eradicate terrorism sponsored from abroad.
Since the Afghan Taliban assumed power in 2021, Pakistan has experienced a rise in terrorist activities, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. In response, Pakistan launched Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, which has resulted in the deaths and injuries of numerous Afghan Taliban operatives and allied militants.
In October 2025, border clashes intensified after unprovoked attacks by the Afghan Taliban and allied militants on Pakistani border posts. Despite multiple rounds of dialogue, no resolution has been reached, largely due to the Afghan Taliban regime’s unwillingness to act against terrorist groups operating from their territory.
