Director General of Immigration and Passports Muhammad Ali Randhawa announced a comprehensive digital transformation initiative on Friday aimed at revolutionizing the passport system. This new drive includes the launch of a passport mobile application, home delivery services, and a QR code-based payment system designed to accelerate service delivery, increase transparency, and eliminate illegal activities.

Randhawa explained that the passport mobile app will allow citizens to apply for and renew passports online, track the status of their applications, and conveniently access essential services directly from their smartphones. Meanwhile, the department is preparing to introduce a home delivery option, enabling applicants to receive their passports at their residences, thereby minimizing the need for multiple visits to passport offices.

In a significant development, the DG revealed plans to implement a QR code-based digital payment system. This innovation aims to secure transactions, promote transparency, and eradicate corruption and middlemen from the process. These reforms are being carried out under the guidance of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, with the goal of modernizing passport services and enhancing convenience for the public across the country.

Randhawa emphasized that this digital transformation reflects the government’s dedication to efficient and citizen-centric governance by leveraging technology to provide faster and more dependable services. He concluded by stating that these reforms are intended to establish a transparent, efficient, and fair passport system where corruption and illegal practices are completely eliminated, ensuring all applicants receive equitable and secure services.
