Two Militants Killed in Mohmand Operation Including Afghan National

Security forces eliminated two militants during an operation in Mohmand, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on June 4, 2026. Among those killed was an Afghan national identified as “Umar Bilal,” reportedly from Khost province in Afghanistan. The Afghan militant was found carrying an Afghan identity card, foreign currency, modern weaponry, and a suicide vest.

This operation forms part of intensified counter-terrorism measures across the country, especially in the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. These efforts follow a series of recent militant attacks targeting security forces.

In a significant development, Pakistan conducted precise strikes along the Afghanistan border a day prior, targeting militant hideouts and safe havens linked to recent terrorist activities. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar confirmed that at least 26 militants were killed during these calibrated operations.

The strikes were launched in response to multiple attacks, including a terrorist assault on a Federal Constabulary post in Musa Dara on June 9, 2026, vehicle-borne suicide attacks on a military post in North Waziristan on June 2, 2026, and an attack on a police station in Bannu on May 9, 2026.

Since 2021, Pakistan has experienced a rise in terrorist incidents, particularly in KP and Balochistan, following the Afghan Taliban’s takeover. In response, Pakistan initiated “Operation Ghazab lil-Haq,” which resulted in the deaths of numerous Afghan Taliban operatives and allied militants, with many more injured.

Notably, border clashes intensified in October 2025 after unprovoked attacks by the Afghan Taliban and affiliated militants on Pakistani border posts. Despite several rounds of negotiations, no agreement has been reached, largely due to the Afghan Taliban regime’s unwillingness to act against terrorist groups operating from their territory.
