Islamabad Administration Sets New Closing Hours for Markets and Restaurants

The Islamabad district administration has implemented revised operating hours for all commercial outlets, markets, and dining establishments as part of energy conservation efforts. These new timings took effect immediately on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, and will remain until further notice.

Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon announced the changes via social media, specifying that shops, markets, shopping malls, bazaars, and departmental stores must close by 9pm. Meanwhile, standalone grocery and kiryana stores, along with marriage halls and marquees, are permitted to operate until 10pm.

Restaurants, cafes, food outlets, and standalone fruit and vegetable shops will be allowed to remain open until 11pm. However, takeaway and home delivery services are exempt from these restrictions and can continue operating beyond these hours.

Essential services have been excluded from the new time limits to prevent disruption. Hospitals, clinics, medical laboratories, pharmacies, fuel stations, electric vehicle charging points, IT companies, gyms, sports facilities, and padel courts will maintain their usual operating schedules.

To ensure adherence, the district administration has instructed law enforcement and administrative personnel to strictly monitor compliance with the updated closing times throughout the capital territory.
