At least sixteen individuals lost their lives and six others sustained injuries in a severe traffic accident on the Swat Expressway on Monday morning. The collision occurred near Ismailia when a passenger van crashed into the rear of a bus that was stationary on the roadside.

The van, identified as a Hiace, was en route to Dir when it struck the bus, which had been traveling from Karachi to Buner. The force of the impact caused extensive damage to the van, resulting in multiple fatalities at the scene.

Authorities conducting initial inquiries indicated that the crash likely resulted from negligence by the Hiace driver. Rescue teams and emergency responders promptly arrived at the site to provide assistance. The injured passengers and the deceased were transported to nearby medical facilities for treatment and identification.

Among the injured, six were admitted to Mardan Medical Complex, though their current medical conditions have not been disclosed. Meanwhile, police have initiated a formal investigation to establish the precise factors leading to the accident. Officials are also exploring whether violations of road safety regulations or driver fatigue played a role in the tragic incident.
