Sindh and KP Declare Four-Day Eidul Adha Holidays Starting May 26

The governments of Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have announced a four-day public holiday period for Eidul Adha, extending the break beyond the three-day schedule set by the federal government. Official notifications issued on Saturday confirmed the extended holiday from May 26 to May 29.

Both provincial governments declared the holidays to cover all government offices, autonomous bodies, and local councils, with the exception of essential services. Specifically, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa administration confirmed the holiday dates as May 26 through May 29, a timeframe mirrored by Sindh’s official notification.

Meanwhile, the federal government had previously announced a three-day Eidul Adha holiday spanning May 26 to May 28, covering Tuesday through Thursday. The State Bank of Pakistan aligned with this federal schedule, announcing the closure of all banking operations for these three days, with services resuming on May 29.

Officials noted that Eidul Adha will be observed on May 27 (Wednesday), while May 26 will be observed as Youm-e-Arafah. The extended holiday announcements from Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa highlight the administrative differences between provincial and federal authorities, as the provinces have granted an additional day off compared to the centre’s three-day schedule.
