Security forces successfully eliminated a high-profile militant commander along with four other terrorists in an intelligence-driven operation conducted in the Spin Wam area of North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Thursday.
The slain commander, Umar, also known as Jan Mir and Tor Saqib, was among the most wanted militants with a bounty of Rs3 million on his head. He was implicated in numerous attacks targeting both security personnel and civilians.
Authorities revealed that Umar had constructed underground bunkers, tunnels, and planted improvised explosive devices near a mosque in Spin Wam. Security forces encircled the militants and launched a coordinated assault, resulting in the deaths of all five individuals involved.
Described as a principal architect behind several regional attacks, the elimination of Umar dealt a significant setback to militant networks operating in the area. Officials confirmed that operations under the campaign “Azm-e-Istehkam” against proscribed militant groups will persist to ensure regional stability.
