Sindh Government to Release May Salaries Ahead of Eid ul Adha Festivities

The Sindh government has announced that it will release the salaries and pensions for the month of May ahead of the upcoming Eid ul Adha celebrations. This move aims to offer financial support to public servants and pensioners just days before the significant religious festival, ensuring they have the necessary funds to prepare for the occasion.

A formal notification has confirmed that the payments will be processed on May 20, 2026. This date is strategically set to precede Eid ul Adha, which is anticipated to fall on May 27 in Pakistan. The festival, one of the most important in the Islamic calendar, is observed on the 10th day of Zil Hajj, the last month of the Islamic lunar year.

In a related development, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, responsible for moon sighting announcements, declared on April 18 that the moon of Zil Qad had been sighted following reports from various regions across the country. Consequently, the first day of Zil Qad was marked on Sunday, April 19, 2026. Experts have projected that the moon for Zil Hajj will be born on the night between May 16 and 17, with its age exceeding 18 hours by the evening of May 17. This timing suggests that the moon is likely to be sighted in Pakistan on May 17, confirming the start of Zil Hajj and setting the stage for Eid ul Adha celebrations.

This early salary disbursement reflects the government’s commitment to easing the financial burden on public sector employees during major religious events. It also aligns with traditional practices of ensuring that citizens have adequate resources to partake in the festivities, which often involve significant family gatherings and charitable activities.
