Pakistan Women showcased a commanding all-round performance to overpower Zimbabwe Women by 168 runs in the opening ODI of the three-match series held at the National Stadium in Karachi, securing a 1-0 lead.

After Zimbabwe elected to bowl first, Pakistan posted a formidable total of 330 for 5 in their allotted 50 overs. The innings was anchored by Sadaf Shams, who narrowly missed a century, scoring an impressive 98 runs off 130 balls. Sidra Ameen contributed a steady 67 runs from 59 deliveries, while Najihah Alvi accelerated the innings towards the end with an unbeaten 56 off just 30 balls, propelling Pakistan to a dominant position.

In reply, Zimbabwe Women struggled to gain momentum and were bowled out for 162 runs in 36.4 overs. Beloved Biza was the top scorer with 53 runs, supported by Kelles Ndlovu’s 31 and Nomvelo Sibanda’s 17, but their efforts fell short of challenging Pakistan’s supremacy.

Pakistan’s bowling attack was well balanced, with Tasmia Rubab leading the charge by taking 2 wickets for 21 runs. Fatima Sana and Syeda Aroob Shah also made significant contributions, claiming 2 wickets for 28 runs and 2 wickets for 38 runs respectively, effectively dismantling the Zimbabwean batting lineup.

On the Zimbabwean side, Precious Marange was the standout bowler, taking 3 wickets for 39 runs, while Kudzie Chigora and Nomvelo Sibanda each took one wicket.

With this comprehensive win, Pakistan Women have gained an early advantage in the series and will aim to secure the series victory in the upcoming match.
