Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif held a meeting with the distinguished British-Pakistani cardiologist Dr Hasnat Khan in Lahore, congratulating him on his recent appointment as head of the Jinnah Institute of Cardiology (JIC). The discussion focused on administrative strategies and operational frameworks for the newly established cardiac care facility.

The Chief Minister praised Dr Khan’s decision to return to Pakistan after extensive professional experience in the United Kingdom, highlighting it as a commendable act of public service and dedication to the nation. She emphasized that his expertise is vital for enhancing the cardiac healthcare infrastructure throughout Punjab.

In a significant development, Maryam Nawaz reiterated her administration’s commitment to transforming the Jinnah Institute of Cardiology into a premier center for heart treatment and medical excellence. She underscored that upgrading healthcare services across Punjab, especially in cardiology, remains a top priority.

Furthermore, she noted ongoing efforts to expand specialized medical services and position Punjab as a hub for medical tourism. The goal is to offer advanced treatment options not only within the province but also to patients from across Pakistan.

Earlier this week, Dr Hasnat Khan was officially appointed as the Head, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and Dean of the Jinnah Institute of Cardiology, marking a new chapter in the institute’s development and Punjab’s healthcare landscape.
