ISLAMABAD: Pakistan expressed strong condemnation on Tuesday over the missile and drone assaults launched by Iran on energy installations in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Region the previous night. The Foreign Office issued a statement highlighting Pakistan’s deep concern regarding the attacks.
Pakistan mourns the loss of lives caused by these strikes and strongly denounces the damage inflicted on critical infrastructure. The government extended heartfelt condolences to the families of those affected and reiterated its unwavering support for the Saudi government and people during this challenging period.
The statement further emphasized that Pakistan views these attacks as a grave breach of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. It described the actions as a dangerous escalation that threatens regional peace and stability.
In a significant development, Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Reza Amiri Moghadam, acknowledged Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict. Posting on X, he described Pakistan’s role in promoting goodwill and mediation as reaching a “critical and sensitive” phase, urging observers to “stay tuned for more.”
These comments came shortly before a deadline set by then-US President Donald Trump, demanding Iran reopen the Strait of Hormuz to international shipping or face possible attacks on vital infrastructure, intensifying the geopolitical tensions in the region.
