Islamabad Public Transport to Operate Free for 30 Days on PM’s Orders

In a significant development aimed at alleviating the financial pressures faced by residents of the federal capital, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed that all public transportation services in Islamabad will be provided free of charge for the next 30 days. This initiative is part of a broader public relief effort designed to support daily commuters during a period of escalating living expenses.

The directive, which will come into effect starting tomorrow, covers buses and other public transit options across Islamabad. Officials have emphasized that this temporary measure will enable citizens to travel without paying fares, thereby offering immediate economic relief to those who depend heavily on public transport for their daily commute to work and essential activities.

To facilitate this program, the Ministry of Interior has allocated a budget of Rs350 million to cover the operational costs during this one-month period. Authorities have highlighted that the funding will ensure smooth implementation without disrupting the services, while also providing financial support to the transport sector amid challenging economic conditions.

Further details regarding the scope and execution of this initiative are expected to be released soon by the relevant departments. This move reflects the government’s commitment to easing the burden on the public and enhancing accessibility to essential services during times of economic hardship.
