The toss for the seventh fixture of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 between Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi was postponed on Tuesday because of continuous rainfall at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. This delay has added uncertainty to the match proceedings.
Peshawar Zalmi, captained by Babar Azam, are coming into this game after an impressive five-wicket win against the tournament newcomers Rawalpindiz. The Zalmi successfully chased a challenging target of 215 runs, propelled by a collective batting display. Mohammad Haris led the charge with a brisk 47 off 28 balls, while skipper Babar Azam contributed 39 runs. New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell remained unbeaten on 35, playing a crucial role in securing the victory.
In contrast, Islamabad United, three-time PSL champions, faced a heavy five-wicket loss in their previous match against a revamped Multan Sultans side. The Sultans, under the leadership of Australian Ashton Turner, comfortably chased down the target of 172 runs. Josh Philippe’s 55 and Turner’s unbeaten 43 were instrumental in the Sultans’ successful run chase.
The squads for the match include Peshawar Zalmi’s lineup featuring Babar Azam (captain), Sufiyan Muqeem, Abdul Samad, Ali Raza, Aaron Hardie, Aamir Jamal, Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Haris, Khalid Usman, Abdul Subhan, Tanzid Hasan, Michael Bracewell, Kusal Mendis, Iftikhar Ahmed, Nahid Rana, Kashif Ali, Shahnawaz Dahani, Farhan Yousuf, Brian Bennett, Mohammad Basit, and Shoriful Islam.
