Zayn Malik recently offered a glimpse into his upcoming album, Konnakol, while paying homage to the legendary singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. During an engaging segment on the Track Star Podcast, the 33-year-old artist participated in a playful guessing game with host Jack Coyne, where he was challenged to identify various songs and their performers.

In a notable moment, a classic Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan track was played, which Zayn correctly recognized. He took this opportunity to discuss the profound influence Nusrat’s music has had on his own artistic journey. Zayn revealed that he has drawn inspiration from the qawwali maestro and has dedicated a track on Konnakol to honor his legacy. This tribute underscores the enduring impact of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s music across different generations.

Set to release on April 17, Konnakol represents a distinctive creative direction for Zayn Malik. He explained the meaning behind the album’s title, describing konnakol as the art of producing percussion sounds vocally. Demonstrating the technique, he shared that much of the album’s soundscape is crafted using his own voice, layered with additional vocals. “I was using my voice to make the music and then singing over the top of it,” he noted, highlighting the experimental nature of the project.

The album’s lead single, “Sideways,” accompanied by its music video, was released on March 27 and has already gained significant traction online. As anticipation grows, fans are eager to experience how Zayn blends innovative vocal techniques with his personal influences in this highly anticipated release.
