Russian Man Sentenced After Barron Trump Reports Assault in UK

A British court sentenced a Russian national to four years in prison on Friday following an assault incident reported by Barron Trump, the youngest son of former U.S. President Donald Trump. The 20-year-old Barron observed the attack on a woman friend during a video call from the United States and promptly alerted UK authorities.

The victim, residing in London, was contacted by Barron in January of the previous year. During the call, he witnessed the assault and immediately informed the police. The accused, 22-year-old Matvei Rumiantsev, had been in an on-and-off relationship with the woman for several months.

Judge Joel Bennathan, presiding over the case at Snaresbrook Crown Court, highlighted the role Barron played in ensuring emergency services were contacted despite being overseas. The judge noted that Rumiantsev not only assaulted the woman but also filmed her during the attack, an act intended to humiliate her.

The victim sustained multiple injuries, including bruises on her chin, arm, and wrist, scratches, and hair loss. She also made emergency calls during the assault. Rumiantsev was convicted in January of assault and perverting the course of justice but was acquitted of charges related to rape and intentional strangulation. He received two consecutive two-year prison sentences for the offenses he was found guilty of.
