President Asif Ali Zardari has officially extended his heartfelt congratulations to Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei on his recent appointment as the Supreme Leader of Iran. This significant development marks a new chapter in Iran’s leadership, and Pakistan’s president expressed optimism that the new leadership would play a constructive role in fostering stability and improving conditions throughout the region. The message, released on Tuesday, underscores Pakistan’s continued solidarity with Tehran during this important transition.

In his statement, President Zardari also offered sincere condolences on the passing of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the previous Supreme Leader and father of the newly appointed leader. The death of the senior Iranian figure has deeply affected not only Iran but also the wider Muslim world, drawing widespread tributes and reflections on his influential role. Zardari described the loss as profound, highlighting how the news resonated across neighboring countries and beyond.

Turning to the broader regional context, the president acknowledged the current period of heightened tensions and conflicts affecting many parts of the Middle East and South Asia. He expressed hope that under Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei’s stewardship, Iran would contribute positively to easing these strains. Pakistan looks forward to a future where peace and security can be strengthened, benefiting the people of the entire region. This leadership change is seen as an opportunity to promote dialogue and cooperation amid ongoing geopolitical challenges.

President Zardari emphasized that the people across the region are yearning for improved stability and economic progress after enduring years marked by political uncertainty and conflict. The transition in Iran’s leadership, he suggested, could serve as a catalyst for renewed efforts toward peace and development. His message was part of a series of official communications from Islamabad that reaffirm Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining strong diplomatic ties and constructive engagement with Iran.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also conveyed his congratulations to Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei through a formal letter. He acknowledged the “onerous responsibility” that comes with assuming the role of Supreme Leader and expressed confidence in Khamenei’s ability to guide Iran through these challenging times. The prime minister reiterated Pakistan’s deepest condolences to the people of Iran and the broader Muslim Ummah following the martyrdom of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, highlighting the shared grief felt by Pakistanis.

Shehbaz Sharif’s message reflected the strong bond between the two countries, emphasizing Pakistan’s solidarity with Iran’s leadership and citizens during this period of transition. He expressed hope that the new Supreme Leader’s tenure would steer Iran towards a future marked by peace, stability, dignity, and prosperity. The prime minister’s words underline the importance Islamabad places on regional harmony and the mutual benefits of peaceful coexistence.
