Four additional India-backed terrorists were neutralized in Balochistan’s Saran Tangai region during the ongoing Operation Shaban, bringing the total militant casualties in the operation to 71. Since July 5, a combined total of 109 militants have been killed in Operation Shaban and other coordinated operations across the province.
Security forces also recovered a significant arsenal from the slain militants, including M4 rifles, submachine guns, rocket launchers, mobile phones, and other tactical equipment. The operation was initiated following an attack on the Mangi Dam police station in Ziarat and is being conducted jointly by the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC), and Balochistan Police.
Despite inflicting substantial losses on terrorist elements, recent attacks in Balochistan have claimed the lives of 42 individuals, including security personnel and civilians. Authorities have affirmed that the operation will persist until all militants are eliminated.
In a notable development regarding the Ziarat attack, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stated that India-backed terrorists targeted a checkpoint, but police forces responded valiantly, killing 15 militants during the initial confrontation. The initial clash resulted in the martyrdom of nine police officers, with militants reportedly taking some police personnel hostage before reinforcements arrived.
Pakistan has experienced a rise in terrorist activities, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan provinces, since the Afghan Taliban assumed power in 2021. In response, Pakistan launched Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, aimed at dismantling terrorist hideouts across the border. This operation reportedly eliminated numerous Afghan Taliban operatives and allied militants, with hundreds more injured.
In October 2025, border skirmishes escalated after Afghan Taliban and affiliated militants launched unprovoked attacks on Pakistani border posts. The clashes resulted in over 200 Taliban fighters and allied militants killed, while 23 Pakistani soldiers were martyred defending the border. Despite multiple rounds of dialogue, no agreement has been reached, primarily due to the Afghan Taliban regime’s unwillingness to act against terrorist groups.
