Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has strongly denied social media rumors suggesting that a former army chief visited the ex-prime minister in Adiala Jail. She described these reports as entirely false and misleading.
In a statement posted on the social media platform X, Aleema Khan confirmed that the information was cross-checked with PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, who also affirmed that no such meeting had taken place.
She accused the spread of these reports of being part of a deliberate disinformation campaign designed to distract from what she termed Imran Khan’s “total isolation” while in custody. Aleema Khan further alleged that the former premier is being deprived of several fundamental rights, including access to adequate medical care for an eye condition, contact with his sons, and reading materials such as books over the last six months.
Moreover, she stated that Imran Khan has not been provided with a television or any form of communication with the outside world during this period, except for two visits by lawyers permitted under court orders.
In a significant development, Aleema Khan highlighted that a full bench of the court has issued directives allowing regular visitation rights. These include access for six family members and six lawyers on Tuesdays, as well as six party members on Thursdays, totaling at least 18 visitors weekly.
She emphasized that these visitation rights are protected under Pakistan’s legal framework and international law, urging authorities to adhere strictly to the court’s instructions to ensure Imran Khan’s rights are respected.
