Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized Pakistan’s growing reputation as a reliable and honest mediator on the global stage, noting that the country enjoys increasing trust from major powers and regional nations. He described Pakistan’s current diplomatic standing as both important and dignified, a source of pride for its 240 million citizens.

Sharif highlighted that the enhanced cooperation between the political and military leadership has played a crucial role in elevating Pakistan’s international stature. He pointed out that countries such as Iran, the United States, and Gulf states place significant trust in Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts, which continue unabated in pursuit of peace.

In a significant development, the prime minister acknowledged the complexities involved in achieving lasting peace, stressing that persistence, patience, and wisdom are vital in navigating the intricate geopolitical landscape. He revealed that ongoing discussions in Islamabad aim to further advance peace processes through sustained engagement.

Addressing security concerns, Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to eradicating terrorism from its territory. However, he warned that militant activities are resurging, with certain groups operating from Afghanistan implicated in cross-border attacks. Despite repeated communications urging Afghan authorities to prevent their soil from being used against Pakistan, such militant activities persist.

Sharif expressed frustration over the continued violence, stating that Pakistan cannot remain silent in the face of attacks on civilians and security forces. He rhetorically questioned whether the country should simply tolerate such aggression, emphasizing that the fight against terrorism is not only crucial for Pakistan’s security but also for global peace.

In recent years, Pakistan has experienced an increase in militant violence, particularly in areas bordering Afghanistan. This has led to intensified security operations and ongoing diplomatic efforts with Kabul to address the threat. The prime minister’s remarks underscore Pakistan’s dual approach of diplomatic engagement and security vigilance amid these challenges.
