In a significant development for pilgrims journeying from Pakistan to Iraq, the government is considering a new travel option aimed at improving accessibility. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has instructed officials to conduct a feasibility study on launching a ferry service connecting Karachi with Iraq. This initiative is intended to offer pilgrims an alternative route, potentially simplifying their travel experience.
During his visit to the Pakistan Coast Guards headquarters in Karachi, the minister honored fallen personnel by laying a wreath at the memorial. He also emphasized the need for continued stringent operations against drug trafficking and smuggling, urging the use of all available resources to combat these illegal activities effectively.
Mohsin Naqvi highlighted the unique dual role of the Pakistan Coast Guards, which operate both on land and at sea, and stressed the importance of enhancing their capacity to protect national interests. The proposed ferry service, if approved and implemented, could significantly ease the travel burden for thousands of pilgrims who visit Iraq annually, providing a safer and more convenient mode of transportation.
