Senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Sharmila Faruqui expressed that residing in Karachi feels akin to living in Paris, underscoring the deep emotional connection people have with their hometowns. Speaking on the program “Har Lamha Purjosh,” hosted by Waseem Badami, she emphasized that a person’s identity is closely tied to their home and country. “Where your home is, that is your heaven,” she remarked.
While lauding Karachi, Faruqui also pointed out ongoing infrastructure problems, particularly the recurring damage to roads after rainfall despite repeated repairs. This highlights the persistent challenges the city faces in maintaining its infrastructure.
On a lighter note, she shared some personal anecdotes, humorously describing herself as “super smart” and her husband as “extra smart,” but admitting that in most situations, “the husband has the final say.” She also revealed her fondness for television dramas, stating that although she could leave politics, she could never give up watching dramas. Among her favorites are “Meri Zindagi Hai Tu” and the currently airing “Doctor Bahu” on ARY, with special praise for actress Dur-e-Fishan Saleem’s compelling performances.
Turning to politics, Faruqui criticized the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), labeling it a “finished party.” She commented on political appointments, suggesting that while Kamran Tessori is acceptable, Nehail Hashmi would be a better choice due to his greater political experience.
