In a significant military operation named Ghazab-Lil-Haq, Pakistani armed forces successfully neutralized at least 274 militants operating from across the Afghan border, while sustaining the loss of 12 brave soldiers and injuring 27 others. The operation, which unfolded over recent weeks, was announced on Friday by Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry during a detailed press briefing in Islamabad.
DG ISPR Chaudhry described the offensive as a “decisive and proportionate response” to a series of terrorist attacks that had been launched against Pakistan from Afghan soil. He emphasized that the military’s actions were carefully calibrated to dismantle militant infrastructure without causing harm to civilians, underscoring the professionalism and precision of the armed forces throughout the campaign.
The operation targeted multiple strategic locations controlled by the Afghan Taliban regime, resulting in the complete destruction of over 73 militant posts. Pakistani forces also managed to capture 18 additional enemy positions, marking a substantial territorial gain. These efforts significantly disrupted the militants’ operational capabilities along the border regions.
In addition to ground advances, the Pakistani military inflicted heavy damage on enemy equipment, destroying or seizing 115 tanks and armored vehicles used by the militants. DG ISPR Chaudhry highlighted that the Afghan Taliban fighters employed a variety of weapons, including the use of quadcopters for reconnaissance and attacks. However, Pakistani troops responded swiftly and effectively to every assault, maintaining control over the contested areas.
The operation included 22 targeted aerial strikes across key Afghan provinces such as Kabul, Kandahar, Paktia, Khost, and Paktika. These air raids focused on high-value targets including brigade, battalion, and sector headquarters, as well as weapons depots. The DG ISPR stressed that these strikes were executed with precision, ensuring no civilian casualties were reported during the entire campaign, which reflects the military’s commitment to minimizing collateral damage.
Following the intense clashes, many Afghan Taliban fighters reportedly abandoned their posts and fled, leaving behind both their fallen comrades and valuable military equipment. Despite the operational success, the Pakistani military mourned the loss of 12 soldiers who were martyred in the line of duty, with 27 others wounded and one soldier still missing in action. These sacrifices underscore the high cost of maintaining national security along the volatile border.
DG ISPR Chaudhry conveyed a strong message of unity, stating that the entire Pakistani nation stands firmly behind its armed forces. He reaffirmed the military’s readiness and capability to defend the country’s borders against any threat. Furthermore, he accused certain terrorist groups operating from Afghanistan of enjoying safe havens, warning that Pakistan will not tolerate any support or facilitation of terrorism within its borders.
Highlighting the ongoing security challenges, the DG ISPR called on the Afghan Taliban regime to make a clear choice between maintaining peaceful relations with Pakistan or continuing to harbor terrorist organizations such as Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), and the Islamic State (IS). He issued a stern warning that any future terrorist attacks originating from Afghan soil will be met with a robust and uncompromising response from Pakistan’s military forces.
