Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar announced that Pakistan’s recent retaliatory strikes against the Afghan Taliban have resulted in the deaths of 133 Taliban fighters, with over 200 more wounded. This military response came after unprovoked attacks by Afghan Taliban forces along various points of the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) late on the night of Friday, February 26, 2026, at approximately 10:30 pm. The Pakistani government swiftly launched a counter-operation named ‘Ghazab Lil Haq’ to neutralize the threat posed by the Taliban forces.
Speaking about the operation, Minister Tarar detailed that Pakistan targeted multiple strategic locations associated with the Afghan Taliban regime, including sites in Kabul, Paktia, and Kandahar. He emphasized that the strikes were precise and aimed at defensive military installations, which form the backbone of Taliban operations in the region. The minister also cautioned that the casualty figures might rise as the military offensive continues to unfold.
the minister’s briefing, the operation has successfully destroyed 27 Taliban posts and resulted in the capture of nine others. Significant damage was inflicted on the Taliban’s command infrastructure, with two corps headquarters and three brigade headquarters reported destroyed. Additionally, two ammunition depots and a logistics base were targeted and demolished, severely disrupting the Taliban’s supply and operational capabilities.
Further expanding on the military achievements, Tarar revealed that three battalion headquarters and two sector headquarters were also struck during the counter-operation. The Pakistani forces managed to destroy more than 80 pieces of Taliban heavy weaponry, including tanks, artillery guns, and armored personnel carriers. These losses represent a substantial blow to the Taliban’s combat readiness and mobility along the border regions.
Meanwhile, security officials confirmed that the Pakistan Air Force remains actively engaged in the operation, particularly in the Kandahar region. Pakistani fighter jets have been conducting continuous patrols over the area’s airspace, providing crucial air support to ground forces and carrying out targeted airstrikes. Reports from the field indicate that the Paktia 205 Corps headquarters, a key Taliban military installation, has been completely destroyed as part of these efforts.
This ongoing military campaign underscores Pakistan’s commitment to responding decisively to cross-border aggression and maintaining security along its western frontier. The operation ‘Ghazab Lil Haq’ reflects a strategic effort to dismantle Taliban military infrastructure and prevent further incursions into Pakistani territory. As the situation develops, Pakistani authorities remain vigilant and prepared to take further action to safeguard national security interests.
