Khawaja Asif Accuses PTI of Prioritizing Imran Khan Over National Security and Unity

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has openly condemned the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), asserting that the party’s sole concern revolves around its founder, Imran Khan, at the expense of pressing national issues. Speaking out on the social media platform X, Asif expressed deep frustration over PTI’s priorities, particularly criticizing the provincial government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for allegedly dedicating its efforts to securing the release of Imran Khan rather than addressing the grave security challenges facing the region.

Asif highlighted a disturbing trend where the KP government appears to be more invested in forming what he described as a “release force” aimed at freeing the PTI leader, while simultaneously remaining silent on the ongoing terrorist threats that continue to plague the province. He pointed out that despite daily attacks resulting in the martyrdom of police officers—some even subjected to horrific acts such as being burned alive—the party leadership seems indifferent. The Defence Minister lamented that PTI’s focus on Imran Khan overshadows the sacrifices of law enforcement personnel and the broader struggle against terrorism.

Expanding on his criticism, Khawaja Asif accused the provincial leadership of prioritizing the preservation of the Chief Minister’s position over addressing urgent provincial governance and security matters. He suggested that this misplaced focus has led to a neglect of both the welfare of the people and the stability of the region. The Defence Minister’s remarks come amid rising concerns about law and order in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where militant activities and attacks on security forces have been on the rise.

Furthermore, Asif questioned the cohesion within PTI itself, alleging that the party is no longer a unified political force but rather fragmented into multiple factions. Despite these internal rifts and public disagreements among party members, he noted a striking consensus: all factions appear united in their desire to keep Imran Khan behind bars. This paradox, Asif, reveals the complex and contradictory nature of PTI’s current political dynamics.

It is worth noting that Khawaja Asif’s statements come at a time when PTI is grappling with significant challenges, both internally and externally. The party’s struggle to maintain unity and effectively respond to national issues has become increasingly visible, raising questions about its future direction. Meanwhile, the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remains precarious, underscoring the urgent need for focused governance and decisive action against terrorism.

In summary, Khawaja Asif’s remarks paint a picture of a political party consumed by loyalty to its founder, while critical matters of security and governance are sidelined. His comments serve as a stark reminder of the complex interplay between political allegiance and national responsibility in Pakistan’s current political landscape.
