District officials in Naran have released a travel advisory for Babusar Top, cautioning tourists, travelers, and transport operators about the dangers posed by continuous snowfall and treacherous road conditions. The advisory was issued on Saturday as persistent snow accumulation threatens safe passage through the mountain pass.
Authorities highlighted that the snowfall has disrupted traffic flow on Babusar Top road and nearby areas, with certain sections restricted to one-way movement only. They emphasized that travel becomes extremely difficult after 6pm, when snowfall intensifies and visibility sharply decreases.
Officials warned of multiple hazards including slippery roads, potential brake failures in vehicles, glacial activity, falling rocks, and the risk of landslides, all of which endanger both lives and property. In light of these risks, the administration strongly urged the public to avoid non-essential travel and to adhere strictly to directives issued by local authorities and police forces.
Notably, Babusar Pass had been reopened to traffic on May 25, marking the seasonal resumption of the route that connects Kaghan Valley with Chilas and parts of Gilgit-Baltistan. Situated at an elevation exceeding 13,000 feet, the pass remains closed during winter months—from November to mid-May—due to heavy snowfall, avalanches, and hazardous conditions.
