Inquiry Ordered Against SHO Mauripur Over Gambling Money Fraud

In a significant development, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of South Karachi, Asad Raza, has initiated an inquiry against the Station House Officer (SHO) of Mauripur police station. The investigation concerns allegations of financial misconduct involving money confiscated during a raid on an illegal gambling den located at Turtle Beach.

The DIG has instructed the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) City to conduct a thorough inquiry into claims that the SHO embezzled more than 4.6 million rupees. This amount was reportedly seized during the police operation, but discrepancies have emerged regarding the actual sum recovered. The DIG has mandated that the inquiry be completed within five days, with a detailed report to be submitted promptly.

The raid in question took place on April 12, when the Mauripur police team targeted a hut at Turtle Beach where a woman named Zubaida, also known as Adeeba, was allegedly running a gambling operation. During the crackdown, 40 individuals involved in gambling activities were arrested, and a case was registered against them. Officially, the First Information Report (FIR) recorded the recovery of 255,500 rupees from the scene.

However, conflicting information has surfaced, suggesting that the actual amount confiscated during the search was significantly higher, totaling approximately 4.879 million rupees. This discrepancy has raised serious concerns about the integrity of the handling of the seized funds, prompting the DIG’s swift action to ensure accountability within the police ranks.
