In a rapid humanitarian response, the Pakistan Navy successfully rescued and evacuated 18 crew members from the Merchant Vessel (MV) GOLD AUTUMN, which was operating approximately 200 nautical miles (around 370 km) off Pakistan’s coast in the North Arabian Sea. The rescued personnel included nationals from China, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Indonesia.
Following the distress signal from the vessel, the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) immediately activated its Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) and launched response procedures. Subsequently, Pakistan Navy Ship HUNAIN, which was patrolling the designated area, was promptly dispatched to assist the MV GOLD AUTUMN.
PNS HUNAIN carried out the search and rescue mission with high professionalism and operational skill. The ship’s specialized team provided critical medical aid, assisted in firefighting efforts, and conducted a thorough damage assessment of the vessel before safely evacuating the crew members.
The rescued individuals were transported to Karachi, where they received further medical treatment and arrangements were made for their repatriation to their home countries. This operation underscores the Pakistan Navy’s unwavering dedication to providing timely humanitarian assistance and its role as a first responder to maritime emergencies within its Area of Responsibility, even at extended distances from the coastline.
