The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Gujranwala has unveiled a model paper for the compulsory English subject, aimed at assisting students in their preparation for the upcoming 2026 annual matriculation examinations. This initiative comes as part of the board’s efforts to familiarize candidates with the exam pattern and enhance their readiness.
In a significant development, the English exam is scheduled to be held on March 30, 2026, and will be conducted in two separate shifts across Gujranwala and other Punjab boards. The paper is structured into two main sections: objective and subjective, each designed to assess different skills of the students.
The objective section will feature 19 multiple-choice questions, collectively carrying 19 marks. Students will be allotted 20 minutes to complete this portion, allowing them to quickly demonstrate their grasp of fundamental concepts. Meanwhile, the subjective section will consist of seven questions, totaling 56 marks, with a time allocation of two hours and ten minutes. This part aims to evaluate students’ analytical and writing abilities in greater depth.
The release of this model paper is expected to provide students with a clear understanding of the exam format and question types, thereby enabling them to strategize their study plans more effectively as the examination date approaches. Such measures are crucial in helping candidates perform confidently and achieve better results in their matriculation exams.
