CBS has decided to remove Kate Walsh’s new sitcom, The Tillbrooks, from its 2026–27 fall schedule, opting instead to greenlight the vampire-themed comedy Eternally Yours. The multi-camera pilot, featuring Walsh alongside Rhys Darby, did not secure a series order after internal network evaluations.
The Tillbrooks was set to reunite Walsh, known for her Emmy-winning role on Grey’s Anatomy, with creator Tara Hernandez and Warner Bros. Television. The traditional sitcom focused on an aristocratic couple navigating the complexities of high-society life. However, Eternally Yours reportedly resonated more strongly with CBS executives during their assessments.
Developed by Joe Port and Joe Wiseman, the creative team behind Ghosts, Eternally Yours centers on a vampire couple, played by Ed Weeks and Allegra Edwards, whose 500-year marriage has grown dull. Their relationship faces new challenges when their daughter brings home a human boyfriend, portrayed by Jaren Lewison. The show’s supernatural premise aligns with CBS’s evolving comedy strategy, making it a preferred choice.
Additionally, CBS favored the single-camera format of Eternally Yours, which will be filmed in Montreal alongside Ghosts. This arrangement allows for shared production resources and cost efficiencies, factors that influenced the network’s decision.
This move is part of a broader reduction in CBS’s comedy offerings. For the 2026–27 season, the network plans to air only three comedies: Ghosts, Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage, and Eternally Yours. The long-running sitcom The Neighborhood will conclude after eight seasons, and the freshman comedy DMV has also been canceled.
Industry analysts attribute these changes to cost-cutting measures following Skydance Media’s acquisition of Paramount Global, which has led to a more conservative commissioning approach at CBS.
Despite this setback, Walsh is set to return to Grey’s Anatomy for its 22nd season in 2026, reprising her role as Dr. Addison Montgomery.
