Nintendo has launched a limited-time crossover event in Tetris 99 featuring the Super Mario Galaxy series. Running from April 3 to April 7, this event coincides with the Mario Day celebrations and is part of the Maximus Cup and Grand Prix format within the Nintendo Switch Online battle royale game.
Participants can earn points through gameplay, needing to accumulate over 100 points to unlock a special Super Mario Galaxy-themed design. This exclusive reward includes visual elements inspired by the Galaxy series, allowing players to customize their Tetris 99 experience with unique aesthetics.
In addition to the themed design, Nintendo has released a series of Switch user icons based on the Super Mario Galaxy titles. These icons are being rolled out in five waves, offering further content tied to the event.
Access to the crossover requires an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription. This event follows the October release of Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 on the Switch platform, both of which received enhancements for modern hardware.
Notably, the timing of this crossover aligns with broader activities celebrating 40 years of the Super Mario franchise. Players have until early next week to participate and unlock the themed rewards before the event concludes and the content is removed from rotation.
