Months after the unexpected death of Grammy-winning music producer Sidney “Omen” Brown, the official cause of his passing has been confirmed. The medical examiner determined that Brown died due to atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, a condition characterized by plaque buildup in the arteries that restricts blood flow and can result in fatal heart events.

Brown, who was 49 years old, was discovered in his Harlem residence in New York City on September 13, 2025, after missing a scheduled DJ session. His sudden death came as a shock to friends and family alike. Notably, his sister Nicole Iris Brown emphasized that he maintained a healthy lifestyle and had no known medical issues, making the loss all the more unexpected.

“He was holistic and healthy. We didn’t know of him being sick, so this is all pretty sudden,” she remarked shortly after his death. She also highlighted his dedication to supporting emerging talent in the music industry, stating, “I hope people will remember that he was willing to help the younger generation. He was always big on helping younger people start their careers and get themselves into the game. For him, it was just about the music, no matter who the artist was.”

Throughout his distinguished career, Brown collaborated with global superstars such as Drake and Beyoncé. Among his notable achievements was co-writing and co-producing the track “Mine” from Beyoncé’s self-titled visual album, which featured Drake.
