Islamabad Traffic Police to Launch New Uniforms and Enhance Eid Traffic Management

The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) is preparing to unveil a fresh uniform design that will feature a modern black and grey colour scheme, marking a significant update from the current attire. This change follows a similar revamp recently carried out by the Punjab Traffic Police, reflecting a broader trend towards modernization in law enforcement agencies across Pakistan. The new uniforms are expected to not only enhance the professional appearance of the force but also improve comfort and functionality for officers on duty.

The implementation of the new uniforms will take place in multiple stages to ensure a smooth transition. Initially, personnel stationed at traffic police offices will receive the updated attire, allowing administrative staff to set the tone for the change. Subsequently, the field officers who manage traffic flow on the streets will be equipped with the new uniforms. This phased approach is designed to minimize disruption and allow for any necessary adjustments based on initial feedback.

In addition to the uniform upgrade, the Islamabad Traffic Police will be introducing a fleet of electric sport utility vehicles (E-SUVs) to bolster their patrolling capabilities. These vehicles, sourced from a Chinese manufacturer, are expected to be deployed on major thoroughfares during the upcoming Eid al-Fitr celebrations. The introduction of electric vehicles aligns with global efforts to promote environmentally friendly transportation and will likely improve the operational efficiency of the traffic force by enabling quieter, cleaner, and more agile mobility.

Alongside these developments, the ITP has finalized an extensive traffic management strategy specifically tailored for Chand Raat and Eid-ul-Fitr, periods known for heavy traffic and increased public activity in the capital. The plan aims to facilitate smooth vehicular movement and enhance the overall convenience for residents and visitors alike. To this end, approximately 520 traffic officers will be strategically deployed across key roads, bustling commercial hubs, and popular recreational areas to maintain order and assist commuters.

Specialized traffic squads will be positioned along critical routes to provide real-time guidance and manage congestion effectively. Furthermore, dedicated help desks will be established within markets to offer support and information to shoppers navigating crowded areas. Recognizing the importance of community involvement, the ITP has also enlisted student volunteers to aid traffic personnel in promoting adherence to traffic regulations and reinforcing road safety awareness during this busy festive season.

These combined efforts by the Islamabad Traffic Police underscore a proactive approach to managing the anticipated surge in traffic and pedestrian activity during one of the most significant cultural celebrations in Pakistan. By modernizing their uniforms, adopting new technology, and implementing a comprehensive operational plan, the ITP aims to ensure a safer and more efficient environment for all road users during Eid.
