In a tragic incident on Friday, a powerful explosion targeted a police vehicle in the Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, resulting in the deaths of seven police officers. The attack occurred in the Bettani subdivision, where an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detonated near a police mobile van, causing catastrophic damage and loss of life. Authorities confirmed that six officers lost their lives instantly at the scene, while another officer sustained critical injuries. Emergency response teams, including rescue workers and security personnel, quickly arrived to provide assistance. The wounded officer was rushed to Insafuddin Hospital for urgent medical treatment but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries shortly after admission. The swift response by first responders, however, could not prevent the tragic outcome.
The fallen officers have been identified as Station House Officer (SHO) Saddar Azam, along with Constables Namdar, Shah Behram—who was driving the vehicle—Shah Khalid, and several members of the elite force squad. Their sacrifice has deeply affected the police force and the wider community, highlighting the ongoing risks faced by security personnel in volatile regions of the country.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed strong condemnation of the attack, honoring the bravery and dedication of the officers who lost their lives.
