Zara Larsson Opens Up About Fifth Harmony Offer and Her Solo Career Stance

Swedish pop sensation Zara Larsson recently addressed circulating rumors about an offer to join the popular girl group Fifth Harmony. The band, which rose to fame after forming on the 2012 season of the reality competition The X Factor, originally consisted of five talented vocalists: Camila Cabello, Lauren Jauregui, Ally Brooke, Dinah Jane, and Normani. Over the years, Fifth Harmony released several successful albums, including their 2013 debut Better Together, followed by Reflection in 2015, 7/27 in 2016, and their self-titled album in 2017. Despite the group’s prominence in the pop music scene, Zara Larsson has now set the record straight about her involvement—or lack thereof—with the band.

During a recent conversation at the Spotify Live Room, Larsson openly denied ever being approached to replace Camila Cabello or to join Fifth Harmony in any capacity. She emphasized that she has no intention of becoming part of the now-disbanded group, stating firmly, “Oh, no. I don’t do groups. I would never be in a group.” This candid response dispels any misconceptions regarding her career trajectory and highlights her commitment to maintaining her identity as a solo artist.

While Zara Larsson made it clear that she prefers to work independently, she also expressed a deep admiration for girl groups as a musical phenomenon. She described herself as “a big fan of girl groups” and noted with enthusiasm that the genre appears to be experiencing a resurgence in popularity. Larsson’s appreciation for the dynamic and collaborative nature of girl groups is evident, yet she pointed out that her own artistic style requires her to be in the spotlight. “I love a girl group,” she admitted, “but I just couldn’t take not singing lead all the time.” This insight reveals her desire to be front and center, much like iconic solo performers such as Beyoncé, who rose to fame through a girl group before establishing a solo career.

It is also worth noting that Zara Larsson’s connection to Fifth Harmony extends beyond rumors. Back in 2014, she toured alongside the group as the opening act during Cher Lloyd’s I Wish Tour, providing her with firsthand experience of the girl group’s dynamic and fanbase. This shared history adds an interesting layer to her current statements, as she clearly respects the group’s legacy while choosing a different path for herself.

In summary, Zara Larsson’s recent remarks clarify her position in the music industry, reaffirming her commitment to solo artistry while celebrating the influence and comeback of girl groups. Her straightforward approach to addressing these rumors not only clears the air but also offers fans a glimpse into her personal preferences and professional ambitions. As she continues to build her career, Larsson remains a prominent figure in pop music, known for her powerful vocals and confident presence on stage.
