Kuwait Organizes Land Evacuation for Citizens in Qatar Amid Rising Regional Tensions

The Embassy of Kuwait in Qatar has taken proactive steps to ensure the safe return of its citizens amid the escalating tensions in the region. On Saturday, the embassy announced the organization of land border transportation for Kuwaiti nationals wishing to travel back home. This initiative comes as part of ongoing efforts to provide secure passage during a period marked by heightened geopolitical challenges affecting the Gulf and surrounding areas.

This recent operation represents the second group of Kuwaitis evacuated via land routes within the span of a week, following an earlier successful effort. The embassy has been working closely with Qatari and Saudi authorities to coordinate these movements, ensuring that all necessary protocols are observed to facilitate smooth and safe border crossings. Such cooperation highlights the importance of regional partnerships in times of crisis.

Chargé d’Affaires Mohammed Al-Zoubi spoke about the embassy’s role in these arrangements, emphasizing the facilitation of departures for several Kuwaiti nationals through the designated land crossing points. He expressed gratitude towards the governments of Qatar and Saudi Arabia for their collaborative support, which has been instrumental in expediting the procedures involved. Al-Zoubi also made a direct appeal to any Kuwaitis still residing in Doha, urging them to reach out to the embassy without delay if they require assistance or guidance.

To further support citizens during this uncertain period, the embassy has circulated emergency contact details to ensure immediate help is accessible. The emergency hotline can be reached at +974 3334 1200, while the main embassy office number is +974 4483 2111. Al-Zoubi reassured the public of the embassy’s unwavering commitment to accelerating services and providing comprehensive support, advising all Kuwaitis to keep these numbers handy in case urgent situations arise.

Meanwhile, the broader security situation in Kuwait remains tense following a recent hostile drone attack targeting critical infrastructure. The country’s Defense Ministry confirmed that fuel tanks at Kuwait International Airport were struck in a coordinated assault involving multiple drones. Colonel Saud Abdulaziz Al-Atwan, the ministry’s spokesperson, detailed how the armed forces responded promptly to a wave of hostile drones that breached Kuwaiti airspace at dawn, successfully mitigating further damage.

In response to the attack, Kuwait’s national oil company announced a precautionary reduction in crude oil production to safeguard its facilities and maintain operational stability. The military’s swift action and the company’s preventive measures underscore the seriousness with which Kuwait is addressing threats amid the ongoing regional conflict involving Iran and Israel. These developments have added urgency to the embassy’s evacuation efforts, highlighting the need for Kuwaiti citizens abroad to remain vigilant and prepared.

As tensions continue to simmer in the Gulf region, the Kuwaiti government is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with neighboring countries to protect its nationals and critical assets. The embassy’s recent evacuation operations and the military’s defensive measures reflect a comprehensive approach to managing the multifaceted challenges posed by the current geopolitical climate.
