UAE President Affirms Nation’s Resilience Amid Regional Tensions and Missile Attacks

The President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has publicly addressed the nation for the first time since the recent missile attacks linked to Iran targeted its Gulf neighbor. In a rare and resolute statement, he acknowledged that the UAE is currently navigating a period that can be described as a state of war, yet emphasized that the country remains strong and resilient in the face of these challenges.

During a visit to hospitals where victims of the missile strikes were being treated, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed conveyed a powerful message to adversaries, asserting that the UAE is far from an easy target. He used vivid language to describe the nation’s fortitude, saying, “The UAE has thick skin and bitter flesh,” underscoring the country’s capacity to withstand aggression and protect its sovereignty. This statement was broadcast on Abu Dhabi TV on Saturday, highlighting the leadership’s commitment to transparency and reassurance during turbulent times.

Expanding on his remarks, the president reaffirmed the government’s unwavering dedication to its citizens and residents alike, emphasizing that all those living within the seven emirates—including the bustling metropolis of Dubai—are considered part of one extended family. He vowed that the UAE would fulfill its responsibilities by safeguarding the well-being and security of everyone within its borders, regardless of nationality or background.

This declaration comes amid heightened tensions in the Gulf region, where recent missile launches attributed to Iran have escalated fears of broader conflict. The UAE’s strategic location and its close ties with Western allies, particularly the United States and Israel, have placed it in a delicate position. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed’s remarks serve not only as a reassurance to the domestic population but also as a firm signal to regional and international actors that the UAE will not be easily intimidated or destabilized.

It is worth noting that the UAE has been actively working to maintain stability and foster diplomatic relations in a region fraught with geopolitical complexities. The president’s visit to the injured highlights the human cost of these conflicts and the government’s commitment to supporting those affected. As the nation stands united, the leadership’s message is clear: the UAE is prepared to face adversity head-on while continuing to protect its people and uphold peace within its borders.
