    Three-Month-Old Infant Rescued After Kidnapping from Karachi Hospital in Major Police Operation

    In a significant breakthrough, law enforcement officials successfully recovered a three-month-old infant who had been abducted from Civil Hospital Karachi nearly three months ago. The child, named Azaan, was taken from the hospital on December 25, sparking widespread concern and a determined police investigation. Authorities apprehended a couple believed to be responsible for the kidnapping, bringing relief to the infant’s anxious family.

    The suspects have been identified as Ali and his wife, Qurat-ul-Ain, who were arrested following a carefully planned police operation in the Garden area of Karachi. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) City Arif Aziz confirmed the arrests and highlighted the relentless efforts of the police team involved. The infant was found safe and has been reunited with his parents, ending a distressing ordeal that lasted almost three months.

    The abduction took place under troubling circumstances. the mother’s account, Azaan fell ill on December 24, prompting her to seek medical attention. While en route to the hospital, she paused at Miran Naka to feed the baby. It was during this vulnerable moment that a woman approached her, offering assistance and assuring her that the child would receive proper care at the hospital. The following day, the woman accompanied the mother to Civil Hospital Karachi, where Azaan was admitted and treated, including receiving an intravenous drip.

    However, the situation took a sinister turn when the woman suddenly disappeared with the infant at the time of discharge. This unexpected act led to the immediate registration of a First Information Report (FIR No. 401/2025) under Section 364-A at Eidgah Police Station, which deals with kidnapping cases. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, SSP Arif Aziz promptly established a special investigation team led by SDPO Eidgah Zafar Pathan, with support from the Station House Officers (SHOs) of Eidgah and Garden police stations.

    Over the course of nearly three months, the police conducted continuous investigations and employed technical surveillance to track down the abductors. Their efforts culminated in a targeted raid at Essa Terrace in the Garden area, where the suspects were detained, and the infant was safely recovered. The police have confirmed that the child is now in good health and has been returned to his grateful parents, who expressed heartfelt thanks to the Sindh Police, particularly the District City Police, for their unwavering dedication.

    Legal proceedings against Ali and Qurat-ul-Ain are currently underway as the police continue to interrogate the couple to uncover further details about the kidnapping. In recognition of the successful operation, SSP Arif Aziz announced that commendation certificates and cash rewards would be awarded to the officers involved, acknowledging their professionalism and commitment to resolving the case.

    This incident underscores the challenges faced by law enforcement in protecting vulnerable citizens, especially infants, from criminal acts. It also highlights the importance of vigilance and swift action in kidnapping cases, which can have devastating consequences if not addressed promptly. The recovery of baby Azaan serves as a reminder of the critical role police play in ensuring public safety and justice in Karachi and across Pakistan.
