In a solemn gesture reflecting the close ties between Pakistan and Iran, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi visited the Iranian Consulate in Peshawar on Thursday. The visit was marked by a heartfelt meeting with the Iranian Consul General, during which Afridi extended his deepest sympathies following the martyrdom of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as well as other senior Iranian leaders.

Accompanying the Chief Minister was Shafi Jan, the Special Assistant on Information, who was present to witness the exchange of condolences and to support the diplomatic engagement. The gathering underscored the shared grief felt by both nations over the loss of a prominent figure whose influence extended well beyond Iran’s borders.

During the meeting, Afridi conveyed profound sorrow and expressed how the martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei represented a significant loss not only for Iran but for the entire Muslim Ummah. He highlighted Khamenei’s enduring legacy as a symbol of resilience and steadfastness in the face of adversity, emphasizing his lifelong dedication to the cause of freedom and justice for Muslims worldwide.

Further elaborating on Khamenei’s impact, the Chief Minister remarked that his contributions to the Muslim world would be remembered for generations to come. Afridi offered prayers for the departed soul, beseeching Allah Almighty to grant the late Supreme Leader the highest place in Jannah and to bestow eternal peace upon him.

He also prayed for strength and patience for the Iranian people, acknowledging the immense pain caused by this irreparable loss. The Chief Minister’s visit and his words of condolence reflect the longstanding cultural and religious bonds between Pakistan and Iran, as well as the mutual respect shared by their leaderships during times of mourning.
