In a firm response to the recent hostilities targeting Azerbaijan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has voiced strong condemnation of the attacks, particularly those affecting the Nakhchivan region. His statement underscored Pakistan’s unwavering support for Azerbaijan, describing the country as a brotherly nation with which Pakistan shares deep-rooted historical and cultural ties. The Prime Minister’s remarks come amid growing concerns over the escalating conflict in the South Caucasus, a region that has witnessed periodic flare-ups impacting regional peace and security.

Following the strikes on Nakhchivan, an autonomous exclave of Azerbaijan, the Prime Minister expressed profound worry about the deteriorating situation. He highlighted the potential consequences of continued violence, which could further destabilize an already fragile geopolitical environment. Recognizing the gravity of the circumstances, Shehbaz Sharif called on all involved parties to exercise the utmost restraint and patience, emphasizing that any rash actions could exacerbate tensions and lead to wider conflict.

Moreover, the Prime Minister stressed the critical importance of adhering to international law and norms. He urged the conflicting sides to prioritize diplomatic channels and engage in meaningful dialogue aimed at resolving disputes peacefully. His appeal reflected Pakistan’s longstanding position favoring negotiation and peaceful conflict resolution over military confrontation. By advocating for constructive talks, the Prime Minister sought to encourage a framework that would promote lasting peace and stability in the region.

Shehbaz Sharif also pointed out that regional stability is not only vital for Azerbaijan and its neighbors but also for broader international security interests. He called upon the global community to support efforts that de-escalate tensions and foster an environment conducive to cooperation and mutual understanding. The Prime Minister’s statement concluded with a firm call for immediate measures to halt further violence and to work collectively towards a sustainable peace process.

This development highlights Pakistan’s consistent diplomatic stance in supporting its allies and advocating for peace in conflict zones. As tensions continue to simmer in the South Caucasus, Pakistan’s leadership reiterates its commitment to playing a constructive role in promoting dialogue and preventing further deterioration of the situation.
