ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister and President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Nawaz Sharif, publicly expressed his condolences on Monday following the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He described the event as a moment of profound emotional, political, and national significance for the Iranian people, highlighting the gravity of the loss for the nation.

In a heartfelt message shared on the social media platform X, Nawaz Sharif extended his deepest sympathies to both the Iranian government and its citizens, referring to the Supreme Leader’s death as a martyrdom. He underscored the impact of this tragic incident on Iran’s history, noting that such a loss resonates far beyond the immediate political sphere, touching the very core of the country’s national identity and collective sentiment.

Sharif’s statement went on to emphasize his solidarity with the Iranian population during this difficult period of mourning. He acknowledged the pain and sorrow experienced by families and communities across Iran, offering words of comfort to those affected by the Supreme Leader’s untimely demise. His message reflected a shared sense of grief and respect for the late Ayatollah’s legacy.

Furthermore, Nawaz Sharif highlighted the critical importance of maintaining stability, peace, and mutual respect among neighboring countries, especially within a region already fraught with tension. This call for calm comes amid escalating conflicts in the Middle East, where recent military actions by the United States and Israel have intensified hostilities involving Iran. Sharif’s remarks implicitly urged all parties to exercise restraint and prioritize diplomatic solutions to avoid further destabilization.

Concluding his message, Nawaz Sharif prayed for eternal peace and blessings upon the departed soul of Ayatollah Khamenei. He also wished strength, resilience, and steadfastness for the Iranian nation as it confronts this profound and irreplaceable loss. His words conveyed a sense of hope that Iran would overcome this challenging chapter with unity and perseverance.
