The District Administration of Khairpur has officially declared a local holiday on March 4, 2026, in observance of the annual Urs of Hazrat Sachal Sarmast, a revered Sufi saint whose spiritual legacy continues to inspire many. This decision means that all government and semi-government offices within the district will remain closed for the day, allowing residents and visitors alike to participate in the commemorative events without work-related interruptions.

The Urs festivities hold special significance this year as they mark the 205th anniversary of Hazrat Sachal Sarmast’s passing. The celebrations are set to commence on the 14th of Ramadan, drawing devotees from across the region who gather to pay homage through prayers, poetry recitations, and traditional Sufi music. These gatherings not only honor the saint’s teachings but also promote communal harmony and spiritual reflection among attendees.

In a related development, the Government of Sindh has announced two public holidays specifically for Hindu employees in the province to observe the festival of Holi. The holidays will fall on March 3 and 4, 2026, providing Hindu workers the opportunity to celebrate this vibrant cultural and religious occasion with their families and communities. Holi, known as the festival of colors, is celebrated with great enthusiasm and is an important event in the Hindu calendar.

This dual announcement underscores Sindh’s ongoing commitment to recognizing and respecting the diverse religious and cultural fabric of its population. By officially sanctioning holidays for both the Urs and Holi, the provincial government is fostering an environment where people from different faiths can freely observe their traditions and festivities. Such measures contribute to social cohesion and demonstrate the inclusive ethos that Sindh strives to uphold.

Overall, these holiday declarations reflect the province’s sensitivity towards its multicultural society and the importance of allowing citizens to partake in their significant religious and cultural events without hindrance. As the dates approach, preparations for the Urs in Khairpur and Holi celebrations across Sindh are expected to gain momentum, highlighting the vibrant cultural tapestry of the region.
